All games in 10U through 18U divisions have an 8 goal mercy rule in place. If the 8th goal is scored before the start of the second period, the game will switch to runtime for the rest of the 1st period, no more goals will be recorded, and the game will be over at the end of the 1st period. If the 8th goal occurs at any point in the 2nd period, the game will end.
In the 8U Division, once there is an 8 goal differential at any point in the game, the game will end on paper with that score. At that point the game will continue to play for the rest of the 2 x 14 minute run time slotted, however scores will no longer be updated on the board nor will goals, assists, or points be recorded. Penalties will still be assessed and recorded.
Results, standings, and tiebreakers:
Round robin games where the score is tied at the end of 2nd period, will be recorded as a tie. Semi finals and championship games that end the 2nd period in a tie will go to a sudden death OT to decide a winner.
Round robin seeding games are worth 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss. These points are what is used to decide the standings and round robin winners and runners up who will compete in the division championship.
Post Round Robin Seeding Tiebreakers:
1st tiebreaker = Head to head (if more than 2 teams are tied skip to 2nd tie breaker)
2nd tiebreaker = goal differential (goals for minus goals against)
3rd tiebreaker = goals against
4th tiebreaker = goals for
5th tiebreaker = shootout
